ENGAGEMENT SHOOT
When I meet couples one of the things they almost always say to me is that they are “not good in front of the camera”. Many couples, whose wedding I photograph seem to start off thinking this. However, I can honestly say that I have never met a couple who I haven’t enjoyed photographying and who afterwards haven’t loved the shots we’ve taken together.
Couples can be quite nervous about having their photograph taken and that’s perfectly natural. It’s one of the reasons why I recommend an engagement shoot. We spend an hour or two chatting and taking photographs. It’s all very relaxed. Not scary at all, I promise. Many couples tell me that they actually enjoyed it and found it fun.
Where possible, I do feel it’s always lovely to be able to have your engagement shoot at your wedding venue. This will enable you to know where we will be on the big day, speeding everything up so that you can spend more time with your guests.
Engagement shoots are great as they give you confidence. You will see that having your photograph taken isn’t something to be worried or nervous about. More importantly, you will see that you DO look amazing on camera!
The shoot is fun and I find that all of us benefit from having one. Not only do they give you confidence before the wedding day itself, it gives us a great opportunity to get to know one another better. Something that I find really makes a difference on the wedding day.
The are no time pressures on an enagement shoot, like there are on the big day. This means that we can take our time, chat and have fun.
Following your shoot, I provide you with a gallery, for you to view your images. These will be placed onto your USB along with your wedding photos.
I personally feel that having your egagement shoot within two month pre-wedding, is a good idea as it really gets you into the whole excited atmostphere that is real and very close. However, several couples have chosen to have their shoot early in the booking process so that the images can be used for save the date cards, wedding invitation etc. As with everything I offer, it is entirely up to you, but I like you know that the option is always there!
I have posted some engagement shoot photographs below which will give you an idea of the sort of shots we will take.
We had such a fun time with Helen to celebrate our recent engagement. We’ll be using the photos for our wedding invites!
Thanks Helen.
We’re not super confident in front of a camera but Helen had us relaxed in minutes and guided us to some lovely, relaxed photos which we absolutely love!

The shoots are fun and I find that they are beneficial to both of us. Not only do they give you confidence before the wedding day itself, they also give us a chance to get to know each other better. Something which I find really makes a really nice difference on the wedding day.
I also love engagement shoots as they give me a chance to experiment and try out different ideas which maybe I wouldn’t on the wedding day. There are no time pressures at all on the engagement shoot so it means that we can take our time and make the shoots fun!
I have posted some engagement shoot photographs below which will give you an idea of the sort of shots we take. Following the shoot I provide you with the full size, high resolution, edited files which you are welcome to use to make your own prints with and share with your family and friends. These will then be downloaded onto your USB along with your wedding photos.
Some couples choose to have their engagement shoot quite soon after they book me, which can often be well in advance of a year before their wedding day. They have then used the photographs we’ve taken on their save the dates and wedding invitations. Others choose to have the shoot nearer to the wedding day and others decide that they would prefer not to have one at all.
As with everything which I offer, it is entirely up to you, but I like you to know that the option is always there!
